Vienna Tangentenpark: A New Pump Track Where Cars Once Ruled
What do a former highway off-ramp, lush green spaces, seven banked turns, hundreds of enthusiastic riders, and the Alliance team have in common? They’re all ingredients in the recipe for Vienna’s second pump track — built by Alliance ASE in the city’s brand-new Tangentenpark.
The Grand Opening: A True Celebration
When the gates of the new Tangentenpark in Vienna’s 10th district opened in June 2024, the Alliance-built pump track was front and center. The celebration featured live music, free ice cream for the kids, and complimentary bike rentals so that first-time visitors could immediately test the flowing asphalt wave course themselves. The Alliance team was on-site to soak in the excitement — and the verdict was unanimous: a resounding success.
Happy Clients, Happier Riders
District Mayor Marcus Franz was among the most vocal fans at the opening ceremony. He had long dreamed of seeing a pump track in Favoriten, and once the decision was made in autumn 2023 the project moved quickly: ground broke in spring 2024 and the track was finished within just a few weeks. The Alliance construction team delivered on time, laying down a feature-rich circuit that drew crowds from the very first day.
Riders Lena Bauer and Dominik Raab were particularly impressed by the variety the new track offers — from big jumps and fast roll-throughs to smooth, flowing corner lines. The pump track in Vienna Favoriten genuinely caters to every style.
An All-Rounder for Every Skill Level
The track’s broad appeal is by design. The Tangentenpark pump track is what Alliance calls an All-Rounder Pump Track — our proven standard layout built to serve diverse user groups over the long term. On an asphalt surface of approximately 485 m², the circuit accommodates complete beginners and seasoned riders alike, thanks to:
- Seven banked corners with generous corner height
- Two dedicated jumps
- Multiple smaller optional jump features
Wondering why a second pump track for Vienna makes sense? This new installation in Tangentenpark perfectly complements Alliance’s first Vienna pump track at Kaisermühlendamm — and the city’s growing appetite for quality active-sport infrastructure shows no signs of slowing down. Riding in the Middle of Nature
Beyond the track itself, the surrounding park is a major draw. The Tangentenpark spans a total of 60,000 m² of green space, transforming what was once a car-centric corridor into a vibrant outdoor destination. Freshly planted trees and shrubs, a pond, a waterside promenade with picnic areas, football pitches, table tennis tables, a small skatepark, adventure playgrounds, and illuminated walking paths all coexist around the pump track.
Research consistently shows that time spent in nature lowers stress hormones and improves mood. Combining the adrenaline of fast riding with a calm, green environment creates an experience that strengthens body and mind alike — and it’s one of the key reasons pump tracks are trending across Europe and beyond.
Conclusion: A Meeting Point for the Whole City
The opening celebration gave a clear preview of just how popular this pump track would become. Within weeks of opening it turned into a go-to gathering spot for riders of all ages — not just from the Favoriten district but from across Vienna. Even during the milder days of the off-season, regulars could already be spotted warming up for the new riding season.
