Extending Seasons with Bike Tourism Investments

Poreč, a popular Croatian seaside resort, has recently become even more attractive for cycling enthusiasts. In March, we built the 2nd pump track there. The pump track will enhance the program of the newly established bike center and attract bike enthusiasts.

Poreč has a lively biking scene and it’s no coincidence that our first pump track was initiated by the local bike club. With our second project, the recognized hotel chain Valamar recognized the advantages of such infrastructure. Valamar has been supporting the development of cycling tourism in the region for several years.

Extending seasons and boosting economies with investing in bike tourism

Investing in cycling tourism is a smart move for a few reasons. Not only does it add more fun things for tourists to do that promote being healthy and active, but it also lets the tourist season last longer. Cycling can bring in visitors even when it’s not peak summer, which can really help the local economy. Furthermore, cycling is on the rise and represents an attractive tourist product. Hosting different events, training sessions, and bike schools can make the tourist experience even better and make the destination even more appealing.

Rabac as inspiration for the new bike center in Poreč

Valamar has already shown how successful bike tourism can be as a tourist attraction in Rabac, another popular Croatian destination. A couple of years ago, we created a whole bike center with pump tracks and mountain biking trails there. Rabac has become a hotspot for families and cycling fans looking for active vacations by the sea. The achievements in Rabac inspire us to pursue more development projects, like the new pump track in Poreč.

The new pump track is located in the Valamar complex Pical

The upcoming bike center will be situated within the Valamar complex Pical, just a step away from the sea and the popular bike route linking Istria’s coastal towns. It will feature a bike rental and servicing facility, along with a shop. Part of the center will also be a larger pump track. On the opposite side of Poreč, we have already built a smaller pump track along the same bike route. The new Valamar pump track, spanning over 1500 m2 with more than 600 m2 of riding surface, will significantly enhance Poreč’s bike and sports offerings.

Our pump tracks, suitable for various wheeled sports equipment besides bikes, will be accessible to both guests of Valamar hotels and the public. To accommodate varying weather conditions, we’ve installed an irrigation system, while lighting will allow riding in the evening hours.
