Pump track Wartberg ob der Aist

Project Details

  • Year: 2020
  • Area: 800 m²
  • Paved Area: 400 m²

In Wartberg ob der Aist, our pump track replaced a once attractive skate park in a similar way. The old modular skate park became obsolete and dangerous. Instead of a more expensive concrete skate park which is more durable and attractive than modular ones, the municipality decided for an asphalt pump track instead. It targets a wider spectrum of users and was implemented in only 14 days.

Skateparks are intuitive and enable rapid progression even for kids on striders, but on the other hand, they are also suitable for professional athletes. Furthermore, a pump track, which is becoming more and more popular, addresses most modern urban sports, however, most communities still lack in providing a suitable infrastructure. This is very important, especially as the generations among the age of 5 and 14 have almost no suitable sports & play infrastructure. They are too old for children’s playgrounds or get bored very quickly, while most of the other sports facilities are not yet safe and suitable for them (for example outdoor fitness).

Asphalt pump tracks also have a clean urban look and can be placed on an area of the size of a basketball court. As such they are very suitable to be implemented in the proximity to potential users – in the center of an urban environment.
