The Story of Our First Pump Track: 10 Years Later
Ten years ago, we built the first asphalt pump track in Central Europe — a 900-square-meter rolling track on the edge of Park Tivoli in Ljubljana, where an underused parking lot had sat for years. It took just three weeks to build. A decade and more than 350 pump tracks across 18 countries later, that first project is still in daily use — and still proving what a single well-placed facility can do for a community.
From Parking Lot to Community Hub
In 2016, pump tracks were still largely unknown in the region. The idea of a rolling asphalt track designed for bikes, scooters, and skateboards sounded unusual to many municipal planners. But the vision was straightforward: transform dead space into a space for movement, learning, and socializing.
Once the project received the green light, things moved quickly. Within three weeks, the track was open — and people began showing up immediately, long before the surrounding area was fully developed. That early, organic adoption confirmed something we’ve seen repeated across every project since: a well-designed pump track doesn’t need programming or promotion. People simply come.

Still Going Strong After a Decade
What makes this project remarkable isn’t just the first few months — it’s the ten years that followed. The track surface and structure remain in excellent condition after a full decade of continuous, heavy use, with only routine maintenance. Different generations meet there daily, from toddlers on balance bikes to experienced riders and recreational cyclists passing through on their commute.
The pump track also reshaped the area around it. The terrace of nearby Bar Lepa Žoga is regularly filled with parents watching their kids ride, while passersby along one of Ljubljana’s busiest cycling routes stop to take in the atmosphere. What was once dead infrastructure became an active part of the city’s rhythm — a pattern we’ve seen replicated in communities across Central Europe and beyond.

The Project That Started a Movement
That first build on the edge of Tivoli launched what has since become one of Europe’s most experienced pump track builders. Over the past decade, we’ve delivered more than 100 pump tracks in Slovenia alone and over 250 internationally across 18 countries, each one informed by everything we learned from the projects before it.
Every new track benefits from a decade of refinement in surface engineering, drainage design, and riding geometry — which is why we back every project with a 7-year structural warranty and TÜV-certified construction standards.
